因论先生之门，某人在涵养上用功，某人在识见[1]上用功。
先生曰：「专涵养者，日见其不足；专识见者，日见其有余。日不足者，日有余矣；日有余者，日不足矣。」
有人谈到先生门下：某人在涵养上用功，某人在识见上用功。
先生说：「专务涵养的，天天看见自己不足；专务识见的，天天看见自己有余。天天见不足的，天天有余；天天见有余的，天天不足。」
It was said that among the Master's followers one worked at nourishing the mind, another at widening insight.
The Master said: 'He who works only at nourishing daily sees his lack; he who works only at insight daily sees his plenty. Who daily sees his lack, daily has more; who daily sees his plenty, daily has less.'
