凡吾所以教，其意实在于此，恐时俗不察，视以为迂，且吾亦将去，故特叮咛以告。尔诸教读，其务体吾意，永以为训，毋辄因时俗之言，改废其绳墨，庶成「蒙以养正」之功矣，念之念之！
凡我所以这样施教，用意实在于此。恐时俗不明白，看作迂阔；而且我也将离去，所以特别叮咛相告。你们诸位教读，务必体察我的心意，永远引为训则，不要动辄因时俗之言改废这规矩，庶几能成「蒙以养正」之功。切记切记！
All that I teach is meant just for this. Fearing the age will not see it and call it impractical — and I too am soon to leave — I charge you earnestly. You teachers must take my meaning to heart, holding it as the rule forever, never letting the talk of the day alter or scrap these guidelines; so may the work of 'nourishing uprightness in the young' be achieved. Remember it well!
