尚谦问孟子之不动心与告子异。
先生曰：「告子是硬把捉著此心，要他不动；孟子却是集义到自然不动。」
又曰：「心之本体，原自不动。心之本体即是性，性即是理；性元不动，理元不动。集义是复其心之本体。」

先生说：「告子是硬抓住这颗心，强迫它不动；孟子却是集义到自然不动。」
又说：「心的本体原是不动的。心的本体就是性，性就是理；性原不动，理原不动。集义就是恢复心的本体。」
Shangqian asked how Mencius's unmoved mind differs from Gaozi's.
The Master said: 'Gaozi gripped the mind and forced it not to move; Mencius accumulated righteousness until it did not move of itself.'
He added: 'The mind's original substance never moves. That substance is nature; nature is principle; nature never moved, principle never moved. Accumulating righteousness is restoring the mind's original substance.'
