又曰：「目无体，以万物之色为体；耳无体，以万物之声为体；鼻无体，以万物之臭为体；口无体，以万物之味为体；心无体，以天地万物感应之是非为体。」
又说：「眼睛没有自体，以万物的颜色为体；耳朵没有自体，以万物的声音为体；鼻子没有自体，以万物的气息为体；口没有自体，以万物的味道为体；心没有自体，以天地万物感应的是非为体。」
He also said: 'The eye has no substance of its own: the colors of all things are its substance. The ear none: the sounds of all things. The nose none: the scents of all things. The mouth none: the flavors of all things. The mind none: the right and wrong of heaven-and-earth's and all things' responses and stirrings.'
